Message	Or in other words, does the gear lever feel normal? I yes then i can only see two reasons for this. Either the "coupling ring" or the "baulk ring" is broken onn 5. gear. Or the 5. main gear (cog) isnt attached to the main shaft. Meening the splines are probably worn away and making the noise you hear. The box is rebuilt, yes? If my theory is sound someone f`ed up. If the gear lever does NOT feel normal then maybe something is wrong with your shiftfork and the gear isnt propperly engaging and therefor "grinding". Just my 2c
